FIVE GEARS IN REVERSE

Remember last summer, when the (post-)war was going badly and Condoleezza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld were making (fact-challenged) comparisons of the Iraq situation to Germany just after World War II, when (according to easily debunked legend) a few Americans were killed by German guerrilla end-timers? Well, now, in National Review Online, right-wing historian Victor Davis Hanson is comparing Iraq to the period in 1944 just after the Normandy landing, when Allied soldiers were dying by the thousands. Whoopee! Guess we're making real progress!
