Gee -- Bush and the GOP are struggling, and what do you know? Here comes terrorism! Or at least what looks like terrorism at first glance.

First a grenade was discovered in the general vicinity of Bush during his speech in Tbilisi (the grenade turned out to be inactive), then today the White House and Capitol were evacuated (for a seeming threat that turned out to be an innocent wayward vintage aircraft).

The Nation's David Corn was one of the Capitol Hill evacuees. He writes at the Huffington Post:

At this point, my pal Micah Sifry called and noted--half-jokingly--that it was very interesting that this had all occurred the same day that USA Today is reporting that former Homeland Security head Tom Ridge had said that the administration had overstated the terrorism alerts.

Yes, isn't that interesting?

Of course, only a silly paranoid moonbat would suggest that this week's scares were fake -- but if they were fake, the silly paranoid moonbat might suggest that recent events inspired the fakery. Recall that the apparent Bush grenade attack comes a week after grenades exploded at the British embassy in New York. And the airplane? Well, look what just hit video stores two weeks ago: The Assassination of Richard Nixon, a Sean Penn film (based on a true story) about a guy who wanted to fly a plane into the White House.
